Both Excel and .pdf reports are generated from the same template, and choosing to deliver one versus the other to your contacts is only a matter of how you want them to use the information.
Advantages of pdf reports and when to use them:
- when you only want recipients to read reports not edit them
- output will reflect your layout perfectly including the text, fonts, graphics, and other information needed to display it
- optimized file sizes
- readable from almost all devices and platforms
Advantages of Excel reports and when to use them:
- when you recipients need to be able to continue to work on the information you send them.
- recipients need to add graphic elements or additional logic to the information
- xls is compatible with the openoffice.org spreadsheet application
