Business Intelligence Payoff

I think that what you say about bundling is certainly true in that a BI app needs to have access to data and that bundling should help this aspect of BI.

However I think that one of the key benefits of god BI is not just improving processes but actually letting analysts do things that they have never been able to do before. When analysts get their hands on data at the atomic level, if they have the appropriate tools, they are able to uncover relationships in the data that previously it simply was not possible to see.

Naturally, the caveat here is that the intelligent part of business intelligence is people, so without the right people it’s unlikely that there will be any payoff at all.
